On October 1, 2013, campaign called European Cyber Security Month was kicked off under the auspices of Mr. Vladimir Rohel, director of the National Cyber Security Center. It is being organized by the National Safer Internet Centre for the territory of the Czech Republic. The main objective of the campaign is to deepen communication and cooperation between state institutions, non-profit organizations and commercial companies involved in creating a safer online environment.

European Cyber Security Month project is supported by the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA), together with the Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner responsible for the digital agenda Mrs. Neelie Kroes. This event includes over fifty different activities and cooperation of more than forty private and public entities in twenty-five countries of the European Union.
